Oban Wildlife Tours

As you may have noticed by now, we’re nuts about Oban.

We’ve covered some of the best places to eat, some of Oban’s proud history and more. Today, we’ll dive into the wild and share three of the best opportunities to see some great wildlife in Oban.

Basking Shark Scotland

It’s not every day you get the chance to see incredible wildlife whilst supporting the environment. For 10 years Basking Shark Scotland has been leading the way offering eco-conscious wildlife adventure tours in the Hebrides and beyond. Their passionate and dedicated team of marine biologists are here to show you the wonders of Scotland’s wildlife. Their unique basking shark swims support our research and conservation- escape with us on an adventure with a difference.

Seafari Adventures

Seafari Adventures offers exceptional wildlife and nature boat trips to see whales, porpoises and sea birds from our base at Easdale, Oban, Scotland. Experience the Gulf of Corryvreckan, home of the World’s Third Largest Whirlpool.

We are Oban’s original Visit Scotland 5-Star accredited marine wildlife tour company and specialise in offering a unique combination of high adventure and pure exhilaration with the excitement and sheer pleasure of close encounters with Scotland’s magnificent sealife and scenery.

Tartan Tours Oban

Finally, Tartan Tours Oban offer great tours that combine wildlife and scenery with history, cuisine and even Harry Potter!

Here’s how they describe their tours: “We think we have devised a unique tour which lets you see spectacular scenery from the Oban area whilst giving you fascinating insights into the history of the area.  We often tailor each tour to our client’s needs so for example if you have a Scottish Surname let us know and we will see if it has relevance to our area.

Our main tour is the Historical Tour and Seafood Experience (you don't need to take the seafood) we meet at a central point in Oban and from there we show you some landmarks in Oban itself before we go on a circular tour of the surrounding countryside often off the beaten track.  Click on the highlights to see exactly where we go.

On return, we drop you off at Railway Pier and McGillivary's seafood shack where (on request) you will be served with a seafood platter and if available Gordon will explain the fish and a little bit of information about the Scottish Seafood Industry.”

Getting around Oban and the Inner Hebrides

The western Scottish highlands is one of the most beautiful areas in all of Europe, yet comprises many small and remote islands, meaning transport around the Inner Hebrides is a challenge. Our Hebridean Air Services team provide scheduled inter-island flights between Oban, Coll, Colonsay, Islay, and Tiree, which are bookable here. Furthermore, charter flights are also available to book by contacting 0845 805 7465 or enquiries@hebridean.com.
