Where is Oban?

Oban is a picturesque town in Argyll and Bute county. Its horseshoe-shaped harbour is often referred to as the Gateway to the Hebrides, due to its access to both the Inner and Outer Hebrides.

Other reference points include Fort Augustus at the Southern tip of Loch Ness. The 75-mile car journey takes approximately 1 hour 50 minutes.

In terms of closer proximity, there are many beautiful locations surrounding Oban. The town overlooks the Isle of Kerrera to the West. The island protects Oban from Atlantic storms, and is home to less than 50 residents at the time of writing. The village of Connel sits to the north of Oban, with Melfort the next major stop southbound on the A816.

Within Argyll and Bute county, Helensburgh is the only place home to more residents than Oban. Helensburgh is approximately 74 miles away from Oban by road, and is a short distance away from Glasgow.
